Creating the best learning environment takes all of us. Including you! At Joyful Hearts Child Care, we want to create the best learning environment for your child and all the other children here. One very powerful way that Children learn is by watching the adults around them. Every adult – – whether a teacher, parent, visitor – – has a role to play and can make a difference for the positive or the negative. 99% of the time, we all do a great job of fulfilling this responsibility. For that other 1% of the time, here are a few reminders …

Code of Conduct

No smoking is permitted on these premises.
No firearms, shotguns or rifles are permitted on these premises.
Children, whether students or siblings and regardless of age, may not be left unattended on the premises and they must be kept in an adult’s line of sight at all times.
No child can be released from the child day care to any person other than his or her parent, a person(s) currently designated in writing by such parent to receive the child, or another person authorized by law to take custody of a child.
No child may be accepted for care in a child care program unless the program has been furnished with a written statement signed by a health care provider verifying that the child is able to participate in child day care and currently appears to be free from contagious or communicable diseases. The written medical statement from the health care provider must also state whether the child is a child with special health care needs and, if so, what special provisions, if any, will be necessary in order for the child to participate in child day care.
Be careful what you say or discuss. Kids have really good ears and they're usually a lot smarter than you think. Don't think that "they don't understand." Because they probably do. There are some words and topics that we'd not have the children learn here.
Using Appropriate Language: It's important to have respectful behavior from all adults. Otherwise a hostile environment can form. Certain behaviors are not tolerated which include but not limited to: Using foul language to or at other adults or students, yelling in a loud voice, physical harm or intimidating language or behavior, threatening or intimidating behavior, threatening harassment either face to face or on social media.
Every adult as a role model: Every adult affects the learning environment at the center, including teachers and parents. Wherever you are on these premises, the students can see and hear you.
Keep It Clean: We teach the students to pick up after themselves and take care of their school. We expect the same from adults -- inside and outside. And if something has fallen out of your car please help us and pick up anything that falls out.
Dress for Preschool Success: Children play hard ... and they get dirty. Especially when we have a chance to play outside. Some parents expect their child(ren) to come home squeaky clean. It's probably not going to happen. So we recommend that you leave the "Sunday Best" at home on school days.
The Golden Rule is Still Golden: "Treat others you would like to be treated." It is pretty simple and covers a lot of situations. We teach it to the children. We can expect it from ourselves. This includes teachers and Admins.

As we said, 99% of the time parents and other adults who visit the center behave admirably and serve as perfect role models. For that we – and the kids – Thank You!
